The Princess of the Circus (original title in German: ”Die Zirkusprinzessin”) is a three-act operetta composed by Emmerich Kálmán to a libretto written by Julius Brammer and Alfred Grünwald, which premiered on March 26, 1926, at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna.

The operetta's plot revolves around the mysterious character "Mister X," whose true identity is unknown to anyone, as he always wears a mask. In reality, he is Prince Fedja Palinski, who was banished and disinherited by his uncle because he fell in love with his uncle's future wife, Princess Fedora, a beautiful and young Parisian. After Fedora Palinska was widowed, she moved to Paris, and Prince Fedja Palinski entered the world of the circus, becoming the mysterious Mister X and, at the same time, the main attraction of the shows.

 Following a plot with a happy ending, Mister X and Princess Fedora meet again and stay together. Some of these events take place in the wonderful and colorful world of the circus.
