What does "real" mean when connection happens mostly through screens?
CTRL+ALT+ESCAPE talks about addiction, about technology dependence, and about how chat relationships come to seem more intense than life itself. About that moment when the virtual becomes more bearable than the real presence of the other.
Lia, Edward, Maia, X, and Emma are teenagers caught between two worlds: one in which they are always online and one in which face-to-face encounters become awkward, oppressive, sometimes even unbearable. They all seek the same thing, simply put: to be seen.
In a hyper-technological age, where does true closeness still take place? And how much of what we experience actually belongs to real encounters?
